My name is Kathleen Kelly and I am an experienced addictions and trauma therapist and counsellor. I help individuals struggling with alcohol, drug, food and behavioural addictions. I also work with adult children of alcoholics, developmental and relational trauma, co-dependency, relapse prevention and personal growth in recovery.
I have an MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling from a London university, and trained as an addiction and trauma therapist at The Priory in London and The Meadows in Arizona. My approach to working with addiction is based on the Meadows model of healing through understanding the adaptations individuals have made to accomodate developmental experiences that may have been less than nurturing. This is an attachment-oriented approach informed by the Minnesota model of addiction and using evidence-based practices for recovery.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists as well as the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Practitioners, and my practice is insured and registered in Belgium. I regularly engage in continuing education and practice with the supervision of a senior UKCP registered therapist.
I adhere to the code of ethics endorsed by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and respect the confidentiality of the relationship between therapist and client.
In addition to an MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling, I also hold a PhD in Pharmacology from the Medical College of Virginia, and have specialist training in Lifespan Integration, Inner Child Work, Psychological Coaching, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness.
